... I'm not sure if I should be comforted by the fact that I cant remember most of that madness, or not. They say ignorance is bliss, but based on previous experiences...
I'm sorry if I... did anything unfortunate to anyone.
And now for some lighter news... my boat is finally finished. I think I'll take it out for a test drive... and then I have a previous engagement to take care of. I suppose that means the butcher's shop will soon be offering fish, as I'll need something to do with everything I catch...
I'm starting to lose it, it's been to long

It's nice to be able to bypass the insanity that likes to plague this place every now and then. I guess the gods (or at least the maids) must get bored of us being ourselves all the time? Maybe they need hobbies more productive then drugging us all... but that's just my humble opinion.
This is such a hallmark holiday, but that doesn't really stop me from buying the cards and the candy and handing it out. I may be a cog in the cooperate machine, but at least I'm a cog that is more loved then the one that doesn't buy candy and cards, right? Right.
So for the duration of that... interesting week, I was hiding in my room. Toby got out and decided he wanted to explore but thankfully he didn't run into anyone ... insane.
Otherwise, previous to that little adventure I spent a lovely evening with Nellie. Nothing too special I suppose but we talked a lot, and it was... nice. Very nice. She's really a lovely lady.
Mm, by the look of my valentines box I'm not the only one who submits to this hallmark holiday... Thank you for the chocolates, cookies, and the rose everyone. My sweet tooth feels very indulged. And thank you Nellie, for those lovely desserts... they were delicious.

I had promised myself I would lock myself up at the Butcher's Shop next time I felt the rain coming... I'm seriously regretting the fact I didn't. Though, at least the golf was nice... to an extent. The part of the golf that was actually golf

I don't know in what universe I would ever do such a thing; I usually gut people who do things like that... Even if he asked for it. Uhg... It's to vivid in my memory to be a dream. An hour in an ice shower can't get rid of the memory. I'm almost thankful that Nellie caught me at the end; gave me less of a chance to do anything indecent with myself.

Speaking of which...

You know, the nice thing about working for the police is that even the crooks take a break around the holidays. Though, you wouldn't know it was January if you looked outside... what the heck is up with all this rain? Geez, looks more like a very angry April outside...
Uhg, I am not so boring that I only have the weather to talk about, I promise. There's, uhm... there's work too, I started talking about work.
So, we caught the guy, you know, who was slashing up the throats of those people.Yes, if we can't be boring, lets be morbid *sigh* They say it was largely because of my blood spatter work... but I think my boss is just buttering me up for when he tells me I'm not getting the raise. Ah well... So, as always, I'm behind in my paperwork, but I blame all the time on field... so many murders are in apparent need of my special attention... but lets be honest with ourselves, I'm not the only person around who can read blood.
So, uhm... Christmas went well. Just did a... a family thing. It was nice. I got my kid a coat because he refuses to cloth himself. I thought they grew out of that past three? Apparently teenagers relapse... Ah well.
So... weather, work, kids. Yup. That's all the 'boring guy' bases isn't it? I guess I could talk about that fishing trip I'm planning... but that would just be over kill wouldn't it?

Are the holidays always so busy? It seems like I've just been going non-stop since before Christmas.... I must be getting old, I'm just so... tired. Uhg, I don't want to get old. I'm perfectly happy just how I am.
Well first of all... I happened to meet this lovely woman named Nellie Lovett, just on her way into Old Home after hatching. She's really quite the lady; kind, open minded, with her sweetsimple smiles... she reminds me of someone I used to know... and apparently I remind her of someone, too.
I asked her to the Ball... and, honestly, was surprised when she agreed. We had a nice time though, chatting and dancing... we have a few things in common, it seems. It was a nice, relaxing evening... been a while since I've had one of those, I think.
The next day we went shopping together, and Nellie ended up pulling me into the pet store... not my favorite place, I'll admit. I'm not really an animal person... but, again, I had a nice time sharing her company... and she bought me a pet, for Christmas.
Which I suppose brings me to my list...
**Tobby, +one little Santa hat, +1 aquarium, from Nellie
**A Mask wall hanging, and a favor, from Duo
**A cat shaped cookie (Mmmmm, my sweet tooth has been killing me)
**A very nice flower (though I don't know from who)
**An interesting book, from L
I really wasn't expecting anything... I'm pleasantly surprised :)

Mm, seems like cross dressing is the new black.
... I think I'll just stick with black.
Alright, so here goes the seemingly compulsory round of show and tell... all things considered, I'm rather pleased with what I got.

Just when you start to get used to the idea of waking up in a strange place with no memory and sprouting wings, we all go and... turn into little kids. That doesn't get any less bizarre no matter how many times I say it. Well, weren't we all just the most interesting group of little infants? I feel sorry for the babysitter--
Oh but we had one, didn't we? Wolfram, I think it was. To bad all the townspeople were boarded up in their shops, otherwise he might have been able to call in some help. Speaking of which I have work tomorrow, again. Geez, you'd think I could have a 'recovering from being a 12 year old' day. Or something. That seems legit, doesn't it?
Duo, I think we should probably go pay for that soccer ball, hm?
Why is there some really creepy limerick in my book?

Dad? Deb? Mom? Where is everyone? What am I doing here? ... and where the heck is here, anyway? There's... like no grown ups. Aw man... I had stuff to do at home. We were gunna go to be beach today and...
Actually... it doesn't really matter; I don't care what Harry says, I don't like the beach. It's messy and nasty and all that happens when you go is you get dirty. At least here I don't have to do that, or smile for any stupid pictures. What's the point of that? People are so dumb.

Uhg. Does anyone think sending me to a place where I have to work with sharp sharp knives while I'm half asleep is a wise idea? My boss seems to think it's fine. I suppose I'll take it up with him when I've accidentally cut off my own hand. Though on the plus side, I get to hide in the back and the customers don't get to put up with my joyful demeanor. I just get to chop meat and work next to the giant oven all day; clearly the safer choice when I'm about ready to fall over.
Ah, well. I get the feeling I'm used to working "in the back". I used to work in a lab, though this place isn't really much different. A blood spatter lab and a Butcher's back room look oddly similar... though I must say my office had a nicer chair. Mm, must be why I spent all those years in school; the nicer chair was defiantly worth it.

Well, this has certainly been an eventful week. I think next time I stop at the bakery I'll bring back more donuts; I thought two dozen would be enough for everyone, but it looks like a good number went missing! Ah well, as long as someone enjoyed them.
I want to apologize if I've seemed out of sorts with people; seems a lot of really unpleasant things cropped up all at once, and I don't suppose I handled it very well. My sincerest apologies...
Seems our little castle is getting quite full. Hello and welcome to all the new feathers. It's a shame I've not gotten out to meet you, as of yet. As for those of you I have met... Light, how are you doing? L, I think I'll be stopping by the bakery again, if you'd like me to indulge that sweet tooth of yours... but only if I can challenge you to a game of chess. Duo... are you feeling any better?
Oh, and it seems I have a job now, down at the Butcher's Shop.

What color are your wings?
Someone had the brilliant idea of composing a list of things remembered... seems like a good idea to me. Might help me sort out what I've remembered into something that makes a little more sense... a pattern, maybe.
1. I'm always acting. I know the script but not the actor, and it's very frustrating.
2. I'm always trying to do nice things for people, but not out of any sort of compassion.
3. I feel very disconnected from everyone around me; I don't understand them at all, but I'm good at pretending I do.
4. I like to be alone, it's the only time I feel at peace, with no pressure
5. I can read blood stains like words on a page
6. A knife fits very naturally into my hands
7. My wings are getting darker
... Would you look at that, I do see a pattern.
1. I have a bizarre combination of cravings; I seem to like spicy Cuban meats, and sweet donuts. I like to move when I eat, too.
2. I don't like being idle; it bothers me to just sit and being doing nothing. In fact, I have the most dinstinct feeling there is something I should be doing.
3. I'm quite neat and orderly. My room is kept perfectly neat and everything is at right angles. Also, I enjoy the cold.
4. I believe I used to work for the police. I seem to remember a small confined space, white walls and... I'm almost positive I was a blood spatter expert.
5. I'm quite used to strange and out of the ordinary individuals; I think I must have come across them a fair bit, where I came from.
6. I'm fairly good at reading people
7. I enjoy being out on open water; it makes me feel... free. I wonder if I could track down a boat anywhere....
Hm... So I lived somewhere with a population of out of the ordinary people, most likely by a large body of water, and I worked for the police... Oh, and it would have to be somewhere that commonly served Cuban food. Not a bad start at remembering, I suppose...
Thanks for the idea, L. This little exercise was really useful!
I think the second list is a little more publicity presentable... even if both are equally true

… This doesn’t make any sense. I remember freezing, rushing air, and the sound of… metal. Ripping metal. That seems almost like… a crash. A crash? But I woke up under water, in some kind of… shell? Egg? This is insane…. I really despise not knowing, or worse, lacking the means to figure it out. This mental blankness is such an irritation.
Where ever I am, it’s dark, and the only thing around is this book. Seems like people have written in it before me; what could that mean…? The signs don’t seem to be pointing to anything with sunshine and puppy dogs. Oh, joy. I don’t even seem to have any head injury they could explain this loss of memory…
I do have back pain though, and it seems everyone else who wrote in this book before me had it, too.
… logically speaking, this doesn’t look good.
